Sometimes Bitlocked Drive Isn't  Accessible.

Hi Folks:

Since the demise of TrueCrypt BitLocker has been working well for me, but every once in a while it annoys me.

After unlocking a drive, and using it, the drive stops being recognized until I re-boot the PC and unlock it again.

   Here is what I mean.

D: and E: are encrypted with BitLocker, E: has been unlocked.

E: is whatever 1 TB hard drive Asus puts in their G750JZ laptops.

I was able to use E: a few hours ago with this account, now access is denied.

   That's a bummer, let's unlock it again:

Nope, unlocking the drive isn't an option.

So I have to re-boot the machine to unlock the drive.

I can go days without seeing this, then it happens.  Sometimes I'm in the middle of something and I don't want to have to re-boot.

   What am I doing wrong?

   Thanks
   Larry

Hi.

This could indicate problems with your drive. Make sure you have a backup before proceeding.

You could try and wipe those 2 partitions and re-encrypt the empty ones which takes only seconds if you use the "encrypt only used space" option. Then restore the data. If that does not help, you should question the drive's sanity.
